People: Dr. James S. Green, Jr.

For nearly 50 years, James S Green, Jr., was one of Elizabeth’s leading surgeons and enjoyed a statewide reputation for excellence. The son of Elizabeth General Hospital founder James S. Green, Sr., he was most noted for establishing the Green Clinic at Elizabeth General. The Clinic grew to become a regional leader in the treatment of cancer and other diseases. In addition to leading county and state medical associations, Dr. Green served for many years as President of Elizabeth General’s Clinical Society. He described the Hospital as one of his “greatest vehicles for service to mankind.“
