David A. Fletcher
David A.Fletcher served as president and chief executive officer of Elizabeth General Medical Center from 1991 to 2000 when the hospital joined with St. Elizabeth Hospital to form Trinitas Hospital. He played a major leadership role in that consolidation.
During his presidency the hospital thrived, further distinguishing itself as a major healthcare provider in Central New Jersey. Of particular note was Mr. Fletcher‘s leadership in the operations of Alexian Brothers Hospital following Elizabeth General’s acquisition in 1990.
Mr. Fletcher joined Elizabeth General as assistant director in 1967. He was promoted to senior vice president and then chief operating officer before being named to the position of president and chief executive officer.
He served for 30 years as a member of the American College of healthcare executives and was the recipient of that organization’s senior level healthcare executive Regents Award in 1996. He also served on the board of trustees of the New Jersey Hospital Association, Voluntary Hospitals of America – New Jersey, and both the New Jersey division, and the Union County unit of the American Cancer Society. Locally he was a member of the City of Elizabeth mayors health advisory committee, and was president of the Roselle Park Board of Health.
